One of the constant battles in our marriage is how to fit dishes into the dishwasher.
Seriously, this is a topic of discussion nearly every other day. Do we need to get a life? Maybe.
Here’s the thing. Years ago, I picked up a set of bowls from Crate and Barrel. They’re a little on the large side for cereal (I tend to overpour to fill the bowl=eat too much=muffin top) but perfect for salad. What they’re not perfect for is fitting in the dishwasher. In fact, they SUCK at fitting in the dishwasher. And if the dishwasher hopes to live through another frustrated dish-shuffle, we need to get new bowls.
So I tried. Crate and Barrel again. And I failed. The small bowl STILL doesn’t fit because it’s too deep. The square bowl fits in the dishwasher, but it huge, causing cereal overload again. Oh, and doesn’t fit in our cabinets. Fail.
What I’d really go for now is a pack of bears to break into the house, bust up our dishes, and just force us to eat with our fingers, which don’t need to fit into a dishwasher at all.
So, savvy shoppers, where did you get your perfect fit?
Great post and something (as a non-dishwasher owner) that I didn’t know people fought about. Thanks for the laugh, Jen. High finger-food-covered fives!
I know, wah-wah boo-hoo, I have dishes…and a dishwasher! Poor me!
But seriously, the dish manufacturers should get together with the dishwasher people and make some magic happen.
